Marian Booy and Magdalena Vander Kooy are two fifty-something women setting out on what they hope will be a remarkable adventure – walking the entire 885 km of the Bruce Trail along the Niagara Escarpment in Ontario.  This site is the story of that journey.

  1. Thanks Marian Booy and Magdalena Vander Kooy for another fine article and, again, excellent photography, that is inspiring me and I hope others to get out on The Trail!

  2. Hi again folks,

  3. For sure, Grant! Thanks so much for your interest in our blog and our travels.

  4. Hi folks,
I heard your interview on CBC today and had to check out the blog. I’m a long-time member of the Voyageur Trail Association, which was originally (1973) envisaged to be the northern extension to the Bruce Trail. Kudos to you both for taking on this challenge, especially while you’re still working! Look forward to following your trails in the coming months.

  5. Hello ladies! Was it you that I heard of on the CbC? My hubby, baby and I love hiking, but we do the same parts of the trail over and over. What point did you start at, and I presume you just drive to the point where you left off?

    • Yes, indeed, Carey, that was us. Thanks so much for finding us on our blog. We started with an overnight trip at Lion’s Head because we heard it was beautiful, then once home again we started chronological day hikes from Milton heading towards Queenston Hts., which we completed in late 2011. This year we started back at Milton and started traveling toward Tobermory. And actually, we drive to the end point of our hike in 2 cars, leave one there and drive together to the day’s starting point, walk the distance and then drive back together to pick up the other car.

  6. An easy, fun winter read for you ladies . . . book by Jane Christmas:
What the Psychic Told the Pilgrim:
A Mid-Life Misadventure on Spain’s Camino de Santiago de Compostela (2007):
